Dan Mayes, Managing Partner

Mr. Mayes is the founder and Managing Partner of AZ Bidder LLC (AZB). Mr. Mayes has spent his career in the financial services, e-commerce and technology industries. Before founding AZB, Mr. Mayes was a Senior Vice President for Walker Digital LLC / Priceline.com where he was responsible for creating the financial settlement technology that forms the Priceline.com Hotel Service. Prior to joining Priceline.com in 1999, Mr. Mayes was Senior Vice President for First Data Corp. (FDC) where he was responsible for strategic business development activities for FDC's Internet Commerce Group. Prior to his role within FDC Internet Commerce Group, Mr. Mayes was the Senior Vice President of Sales & Operations for Donnelley Marketing, and the U$A Value Exchange Partnership, a co-operative marketing company formed by First Data and twenty of the largest credit card issuers in the United States. Prior to this position, Mr. Mayes was the General Manager of the Point-of-Sale Systems Group for Dean Witter Discover & Company / SPS Payment Systems Inc. Mr. Mayes is a licensed Realtor ® in the State of Arizona. He received his education in Finance and Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

 

Yung Bong Lim, Partner

Mr. Lim is a Partner of AZ Bidder LLC and a co-founder of Residential Dynamics Group LLC. Prior to his current positions, Mr. Lim had a successful career investing in residential mortgage-backed securities. For eight years (1999-2007), he was a Managing Director and head of the Securitized Products Group (SPG), which he founded, at Citadel Investment Group, L.L.C. in Chicago. In this capacity, he led a team of traders and quantitative researchers and indirectly supervised a group of supporting technology personnel. In addition to overseeing SPG, Mr. Lim actively managed a portfolio of MBS derivatives. Prior to Citadel, Mr. Lim worked at Salomon Smith Barney in New York for eleven years (1987- 1998). He originally joined the Quantitative Analyst Program at Salomon Brothers, and after an initial year of training and rotation, he was placed into the Proprietary Fixed Income Trading Group. From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Lim developed MBS systems and models, and from 1994 to 1998, he co-managed a relative-value MBS portfolio. He was promoted to Managing Director at Salomon in 1997. Mr. Lim graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1987 with a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. He currently resides in Chicago.

 

Tim Mayes, Partner

Mr. Mayes is a partner of AZ Bidder LLC and a co-founder of Residential Dynamics Group LLC. Mr. Mayes has spent the entirety of his thirty-seven year career in the fields of investment banking and real estate investment and finance. His experience includes all facets of real estate: development, construction, property sales, property brokerage, property trust, lease advisory, lending, securitization and acquisitions. He has dealt with all property types, including retail, residential, office, warehouse, industrial and mixed-use. He has done business throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Japan, Asia and Europe. During the course of his career, he has participated in or managed over one hundred transactions whose total exceeds $10 billion. Mr. Mayes spent 16 years with Citigroup in various positions within its investment banking and capital markets departments, including the Global Asset Finance Group, where he was its Managing Director and global head of Structured Real Estate Finance. He held this position at the time of his retirement from Citigroup in 2005. Prior to joining Citigroup in 1989, Mr. Mayes was a Managing Director and head of Capital Markets for The Balcor Company, a real estate investment subsidiary of American Express. Prior to this position, he held positions of responsibility with Bear Stearns & Co., Inc, The First National Bank of Chicago (now part of J.P. Morgan Chase) and First American Building Corporation. Mr. Mayes holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Liberal Arts degree from The University of Chicago, and a Bachelors degree from Ripon College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated cum laude..

Mike Orr, Cromford Associates LLC

Mr. Orr is the founder and manager of Cromford Associates LLC, an Arizona limited liability company based in Mesa AZ and the publisher of The Cromford Report™ and the director of the Center for Real Estate Theory and Practice at the W. P. Carey School at Arizona State University. Mr. Orr holds a masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford in England and spent 31 years in the computer industry, working for IBM, Amdahl, Splash Technology and the Santa Cruz Operation. In his most recent positions he was President of Tarantella and CEO of Mobilearia. He first started investing in real estate in 1976 and left the computer industry to focus on real estate in 2002.

 

Tom Ruff, The Information Market LLC

Mr. Ruff founded The Information Store in 1982. In August of 2005, The Information Store and Jim Patterson of Marketron Services merged forming The Information Market. The Information Market specializes in producing the most current, up-to-date real estate data available in the industry and is known as “The Source” for local publicly recorded real estate data. The Information Market compiles and tracks all real estate sales and foreclosure activity in Maricopa County on a daily basis. Mr. Ruff personally manages and maintains the most comprehensive and timely foreclosure data base in the Phoenix marketplace. Mr. Ruff’s companies have been compiling and providing sales data for the ARMLS tax system for over 20 years. He has consulted on stories for the Wall Street Journal, the NY Times, the LA Times, Forbes and Fortune. His work appears frequently in the Arizona Republic and is a constant on azcentral.com. Mr. Ruff is known for his monthly housing opinion which appears each month within The Cromford Report where he shares an inside and sometimes irreverent look at the Phoenix Housing Market. Mr. Ruff was born and raised in Nebraska, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Nebraska in 1978, moved to Arizona in May of 1979, Mr. Ruff has been working with real estate data ever since.
